CAMAS, WASHINGTON (February 2, 2015): PLEXSYS Interface Products, Inc. today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Ron “Opie” Wiegand as General Manager, effective March 2015. Wiegand previously was the Booz Allen Hamilton lead for Hurlburt Field, Florida, providing Program Management, Consulting Services and Market Development.
“During this time of growth in our company and increased complexity of our products, there is no better person to take on this new general manager role,” said Tom Jons, PLEXSYS Chairman and CEO. “Opie is a proven leader with extensive contacts throughout the training industry. His knowledge of the modeling and simulation requirements directly aligns with our strategic direction; this is a great match for PLEXSYS.”
A retired Colonel and graduate of the Air Force Academy and Weapons School, Wiegand has a long history with training systems, beginning with establishing what is now the Distributed Mission Operations Center (DMOC) at Kirtland AFB New Mexico, which received the award for the “Best Modeling and Simulation Training Program in the Department of Defense.” He closed out his military career in Special Operations, as the Commander, 623 Air & Space Operations Center, Hurlburt Field, Florida, and Exercise Director for EMERALD WARRIOR, earning recognition as the #1 Joint LVC exercise. While at Booz Allen Hamilton, Ron provided strategic and tactical leadership to shape the firm’s comprehensive Live, Virtual, Constructive (LVC) engagement plans. His responsibility included the direct and supportive supervision of a portfolio exceeding $60 million. Ron and his family will be relocating to the PLEXSYS corporate headquarters Camas, Washington from his current home state of Florida.
As General Manager, Ron will work directly for the PLEXSYS Chairman and CEO, Tom Jons. In addition to learning the operations of PLEXSYS, he will be assigned special projects that leverage his vast experience and knowledge in the command & control (C2) and modeling & simulation (M&S) arenas.
Wiegand stated, “I am both humbled and excited for the opportunity to work with such a talented team of individuals. PLEXSYS products provide leading-edge tools that enable readiness training across C2, shooter and intelligence communities. LVC-Operational Training environments are critical to Air Force, joint and coalition readiness, and will continue to grow in importance and complexity with the integration of 5th and 6th generation capabilities. My goal is to continue to grow and transform the PLEXSYS team to meet both defense and commercial applications with greater effectiveness and efficiency. Integrity in all we do and quality assurance in the produ
ct and services we deliver will remain the foundations of the PLEXSYS culture. The opportunities for PLEXSYS are endless because of our people. I look forward to meeting our expanding customer base training challenges with product agility and sufficiency.
