CAMAS, Wash., November 23, 2016 – Air Forces Northern (AFNORTH) recently purchased the sonomarc Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) radio bridge for NORAD Air Defense Sectors to integrate with their Mission Voice Platform (MVP) communications system. The sonomarc LVC bridge, designed and delivered by PLEXSYS, provides the capability to tie in “Live” communications system such as MVP to radio simulation networks by converting analog audio to digital DIS audio and modeling corresponding radios within the simulation network.
The sonomarc LVC bridge allows NORAD mission crew members to utilize the organic MVP communications panel to access simulated radio and communicate with simulation platforms across the training networks providing a true “train as you fight” environment. After successful integration testing at the General Dynamics Information Technologies facility in Hampton, VA and obtaining Information Assurance accreditation, the sonomarc LVC Bridge was cleared for installation. To date, installation and training at the Western Air Defense Sector, the Eastern Air Defense Sector and the Tyndall AFB Distributed Training Center are complete. The Hawaii Region Air Operations Center and the Alaskan NORAD Region Operations Control Center are scheduled for installation and training in 2017.
